For Votorantim Cimentos, corporate social responsibility is a daily practice. Committed to the development of the towns and cities in which it operates, the company engages with stakeholders because it believes co-responsibility is a strategic factor in business sustainability. Convinced of the transformational power of youth, the company supports initiatives in the fields of education, work, culture and sports.
In line with the guidelines developed by Instituto Votorantim, which coordinates social investment policies for all Votorantim Group companies, Votorantim Cimentos invests more than R$5 million annually in social programs and activities, focusing on communities in the areas where it operates and paying special attention to youngsters aged 15-29 from low-income families.
In Brazil, the Community Council exemplifies the principle that stimulating sustainability inside and outside the organization creates value for all. This project, one of the company’s main social initiatives, creates a permanent channel for relationship building with communities and a space for discussing key issues for local development. The project was implemented in four cities in 2009. |
